Originally formed in 1938 whilst trading under its name of Pilot Caravans, Torton Bodies Ltd was registered on 14th February 1961.
60 years on and the company is still going strong manufacturing mobile clinics, mobile exhibitions and mobile libraries. The product has evolved somewhat over the years from the original Pilot Panther or Pilot Pegasus caravans, but the industry leading designs are still something which Torton pride itself on, in its current product range.
In 1967 Tom Andrews designed a functional mobile exhibition unit which was more like what you would expect to see at a 2021 county show, as opposed to the then more typical 'converted caravan'.
2020 was a very busy year for the company, and the start of 2021 is no different. Due to the ability to adapt, Torton Bodies Ltd have seen its product range expand even further, of which more information will be available later in the year, and will mark another first for Torton.
Torton have, in the 60 years of trading, always relished a challenge and 2020 was one of the biggest to date. 2021 looks to initially be heavily focused on the mobile clinic vehicles and mobile clinic trailers area of expertise, and as things start to normalise after the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, the mobile library vehicles and mobile exhibition trailers will re-surface once again.
